November 2010

This holiday weekend we were treated to some entertaining boxing matches on HBO. Juan Manuel Marquez was set to defend his WBA and WBO lightweight titles against Australia’s Michael Katsidis (27-3). Marquez is an explosive fighter with an impressive career and a record of 52-5-1. I’ve been a fan for awhile so I was looking forward to the bout. I was unaware that the undercard was going to be exciting as well. Undefeated Andre Berto (26-0) was also defending his WBC welterweight title against Freddy Hernandez (29-2). Berto is originally from Haiti, but hails from the po-dunk little town of Winter Haven, FL, where my mom and cousin currently reside. (I missed the other undercard matches, so I won’t comment on them.)

I enjoy watching boxing because you simply cannot turn away from the ring for a second, just in case someone is knocked out. With other sports, you know they will end after four quarters or nine innings, but boxing can end at any time. When I tuned in on Saturday night, I announced the start of the Berto fight on my twitter and seconds later it was over. Literally. (As usual we have posted the video footage here for all to see after the jump) (more…)

As the end of 2010 approaches I want to shed light on an artist that you may have missed or have yet to hear of. This artist didn’t make the XXL Freshman of the Year class, but should lead the pack next year. I’m sure that you’re up on Fashawn, J.Cole, and Wiz Khalifa, and with good reason, but it’s time to LISTEN UP! (see my review, additional video and experience two mixtapes after the jump) (more…)

SportsCenter has a way of beating a story to death. There are a handful of athletes who, despite their talent and achievements, have received a plethora of news coverage for their trash talk, decisions, and other antics. In no particular order, (and strictly my personal opinion) here are my Top 5 most annoying athletes: (see my official list after the jump) (more…)

I was transferred to a different store this week and am now promoting the Sony GoogleTV. This is a lot easier to sell than the 3DTV because it is cheaper ($599-$1499) and more useful. It also has a component you can add to an HDTV you already own for only $399. 3DTV does not have this ability yet.

So what exactly does it do? Here are the coolest features: (see a video demonstration, features and benefits, after the jump) (more…)

If you haven’t heard of Jay Pharoah it’s more than likely because you gave up on Saturday Night Live long ago, for one reason or another. SNL was missing that credible Hip Hop element that has become a staple in pop entertainment, kind of like this site. One way to solve that problem is to bring in some young talent that could relate to the ever changing Hip Hop audience. So far it has been a hit for SNL

Take look a some of his previous work before SNL after the jump… (more…)

Last week I signed up for a promotion job that has me giving demonstrations of Sony’s 3D TVs at the local Best Buy. I haven’t seen any of the movies that have come out in 3D. None. My reasons are many, but that is neither here nor there. When I saw the commercials for 3D TVs coming out, I thought it was a stupid idea. Who wants to watch TV with those doofy glasses on??  Not me. I’m good, thanks. But, now I have to convince people to buy into something I’m not fully sold on myself. Great. (more…)

There has hardly been a Monday Night Football game that was as epic as the Eagles vs. Redskins was this week. The opening play was an 88 yard pass from Michael Vick to DeSean Jackson, who pranced backwards into the end zone. O_o *in my Chris Berman voice* WHAAAT?? The Eagles proceeded to lay the smack down for the rest of the first quarter, racking up 28 points. It was 45-14 at the half!!! *faints* Eight different players scored for the Eagles, including Vick, who scored twice. This game had me screaming, literally. (more…)

McNabb vs Vick

Are You ready For Some Football?!

Since April 5, 2010 I’ve been anxiously awaiting the match-up between my QBs, Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick. Yes, I claim them both. I’ve been an Eagles fan since McNabb’s rookie season, so seeing him get traded was quite painful. Yes, I cried. I also cried (with joy) the previous year when the Eagles signed Vick, because he is an amazing talent who deserved a second chance. (more…)
